The OSA Annual Fund – DONATE TODAY!
The OSA Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between state funding and the real costs to deliver your child’s artistic and academic programs. OSA receives only 84% of what we need to run the school from the state and other income. This year, OSA is asking for a tax-deductible gift of $2,125 per student to bridge that gap. It is our hope that you can help us meet this goal, but any gift counts. Your generosity will support our stellar faculty, maintain and enhance our historic facilities, provide classroom technology and tools, and bring our unique programs to life. You can make a one-time gift or give a little each month with a recurring donation. One of the easiest ways to double or even triple your donation is through Matching Gifts. Contact your Human Resources department to see if your company will match your gift, or click here to find out if your company offers a Matching Gifts program. Your tax-deductible gift to OSA’s Annual Fund will help us reach 100% family participation – proving that we all believe in the power of an Oakland School for the Arts education. Email Diana Schneider, Annual Fund Manager at dschneider@oakarts.org or call 1-510-873-8807 with any questions! Thank you – every dollar from every donor makes a difference.
Androids still needed!
Do you have an old Android phone laying around? Donate it to OSA for the Technovation Challenge. Technovation is a competition that offers girls around the world the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. Girls ages 10 to 18 learn to identify a problem in their community and create a mobile app solution to address that problem, and then learn how to communicate these ideas and translate them into a fully launched business. Each team needs an Android phone to test its app. Donate yours today, and support the next generation of girls in tech. Phones are needed by October 29. Please bring them to Ms. Yan in Room 248. Thank you!
Hot lunches at OSA
Go here for this week’s menu: Hot Lunch Menu As a public school under the OUSD umbrella OSA is excited to partner with OUSD to provide and serve our lunches for 2017/18. OUSD sources locally whenever possible in preparing the lunches. Because we are participating in the Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL) program students must take a full lunch (unless just purchasing milk or fruit). A full lunch is:
- Main course (must take)
- Fruit or vegetable
- Milk is optional
Cost for full lunch is $3.25. Families that qualify for reduced lunch pay $.40. If you haven’t already done so, please complete the FRL application on the OUSD website – https://mealapps.ousd.org/ by going directly to Application Instructions. Families can prepay for meals using the following methods:
- Checks made payable to OUSD
- Online https://www.myschoolbucks.com/
The monthly lunch menu is posted on the OSA website. The menu lists several entrées of which only two will be served each day based on what is locally available. We encourage you to have your student(s) try the new offerings. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Jones ljones@oakarts.org
