Vol: 16 No: 15 January 12, 2018
Update
We are currently at 81% of the $500,000 Annual Fund Goal with 52% schoolwide participation. Five of the emphases have already surpassed last year’s participation number. One of the most important statistics we provide to potential outside donors is the percentage of parent participation in the Annual Fund. We know we can get to 100% participation! We are asking families to consider a gift of $2,125 per student, but every gift counts, no matter the amount.
Ways to Give:
- Recurring Gift: Please consider a monthly gift to support your student’s 60+ hours per month of arts programming and our stellar faculty.
- One Time Gift (Checks preferred, or online).
- Matching Click here to find out if your company offers a Matching Gifts program.
Email Diana Schneider, Annual Fund Manager at dschneider@oakarts.org or call 1-510-873-8807 with any questions!

Learning Center
Volunteer Opportunities
Our after school Learning Center is in need of some enthusiastic adult volunteers who enjoy working with energetic Middle School Aged kids! Ms. Smith and the Learning Center Team are actively seeking volunteers from the OSA community to come and share their talents with our students.
Are you an avid reader, a history buff or a science expert eager to share your knowledge with kids? Do you have a desire to discuss some interesting Young Adult novels or investigate interesting scientific questions in a lively group format once or twice a week with our students? If you answered YES to these questions, the Learning Center is the place for you!
We are looking for interactive and engaged volunteers to commit to one or two (or three!) days a week. The Center is open Mondays from 12:50-4:15 and Tuesdays through Fridays from 3:10 – 5:00. Currently the Center is run by OSA staff members and provides math assistance Tuesday through Friday from 3:30-4:30, but more help and parent expertise is greatly needed!
Please email Ms. Smith with any ideas: ssmith@oakarts.org. We look forward to hearing from you very soon. Thank you for everything you do for OSA!
