OSA Annual Fund UPDATE

******DONATE TODAY!******

Thank you, OSA! We took another leap forward and are now at $218,288 with 25% school-wide participation. We are almost half way to our $500,000 Annual Fund goal! Here is the latest update:

annual fund chart 2

This year, OSA is asking for a tax-deductible gift of $2,250 per student to bridge the gap between state and local funding and what is needed to support your student’s education. But, every gift of any amount makes a difference!

Ways to Give:

  • Recurring Gift: Please consider meeting the per student ask with a monthly gift of $250 to support your student’s 60+ hours per month of arts programming and our stellar faculty. If this gift is not possible, even $25/month goes a long way.
  • One Time Gift: (Checks preferred, or online).
  • Matching: Click here to find out if your company offers a Matching Gifts program.

OSA Yearbook!

We’re really excited about this year’s Oakland School for the Arts Yearbook. Why? Because you can add your own photos and memories to your personalized copy. All you have to do is create a free account with TreeRing, our new publisher.

Your book includes two free pages for you to personalize with your own photos and memories. The personal pages are totally optional, so if you just want the more traditional yearbook, that’s okay, too.

Whichever you choose, you can click here to purchase a yearbook for $45.00. Look for discounts if you purchase in October.

If you are going to use the personal pages, please have them done and buy your copy of the yearbook by March 15, 2019.

Thanks!

Calling all Middle Schoolers!
Want to join the new Ultimate Frisbee team at OSA, the Sea Wolves?

kids playing ultimate frisbee
The sport of Ultimate, as it’s commonly referred to, combines some of the most exciting elements of basketball, soccer, and non-contact football. Practices are Mondays from 4 pm until 5:30 at Bushrod Park in North Oakland near Shattuck and 59th Street. Players from other middle schools are also welcome to join, and this team has several players from Claremont Middle School in Oakland. No tryouts, no experience necessary, all are welcome. Ultimate frisbee is a fast-paced, low-cost sport. The team will participate in tournaments hosted by the Bay Area Disc Association, (bayareadisc.org), like the Fog Five Cup on October 28, and also in a winter league on Sundays. Financial aid is available. For more info, contact coach Patsy Smith at carmengetit@gmail.com, (mom to 6th grade Monique Wethy – vocal music) and join the Google group at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ultimate-ms-claremont-osa/join. There is also a Konstella group called “ultimate frisbee middle school.”
